Bruce Goff
Renowned Architect
"In my lifetime I have met three individuals of unquestionable genius. Eugene Tssui is one of these individuals. I write this in the spirit of homage to salute him as a young master already certain of his many and varied directions in creative work. The strength and inner drive of this multiple genius is awesome He is the most complete person I know, is resourceful, realistic and thorough but also a visionary. He has the necessary integrity to completely realize his wonderful creative power. I have met many young men of exceptional talents, but I find Eugene Tssui to be the one with the most remarkable creative potential and brilliance of the greatest intensity.

- Richard Meier,
P.HD Professor University of California, Berkeley
"Eugene Tssui is a polymath, a kind of genius. These long jumps he makes into the unknowns of structure and imagery... I find his personal capabilities for problem solving to be similar to the great minds I have known in physics, chemistry and biology. However he has a more pleasant personality, an ability to transmit enthusiasm, and a personal magnetism that many of the scientists did not have. He is a born teacher as well as professional designer, investigator, artist and musician, but he does not fit into any of the grooves that society has prepared in advance for developing bright people..."

Harvard Graduate School of Architecture
"Dr. Eugene Tssui is one of the most creative and imaginative people I have ever met. I was impressed by his imaginary thoughts on the philosophy of learning from nature and turning nature forms into architectural structures.I still remember his beautiful works of self-designed homes and studios full of elegant curved shapes, which broadened my horizons in architecture. In the summer of 2023,I interned at Dr. Tssui’s research office. I helped model and render a building that can rotate to resist tide waves. This exceptional experience helped me deeply understand how architecture can coexist with nature and how natural forms and naturally inspired materials can achieve satisfactory mechanical and functional performance."

- Dr. Karon Szelwach Aronson, Esq.Physician and Lawyer
“During my careers as physician, anesthesiologist and then lawyer, I attended more lectures than most members of your audience at the University of Idaho. Your lecture about looking to nature for solutions for ourselves was the best lecture and slide show I ever attended. Not only was it educational and entertaining but the lecture made me want to live another 50 years so I can see more of your future visions come to fruition. I know people become sick physically and psychologically because where and how they live are out of sync with the natural order. Your designs and thoughts beacon harmony. Please continue your pioneering work and lecturing...”

- Mr. Louis Marines
President, CEO Emeritus,
American Institute of Architects
"He is teaching us to find our uniqueness and purpose in life to pursue our true passion and his has wonderful results. Tsui encourages and celebrates individuality, nonconformity, and a renewed emphasis on creativity and innovation, and abandonment of that which is stylish, the most extraordinary aspect of his teaching is what he calls, “the anticipatory aspect” of his approach. He encourages us to think in terms of anticipating probable challenges and problems of the future... his teaching embraces all of nature’s wisdom combined with the urgent social issues of our time. His teaching is both exciting and profound.”

- Pierluigi Dalla Rosa
Senior Lecturer at University of California, Berkeley
His work is labeled visionary and futuristic, yet the technologies that he implies are ancestral and nature-based. Humans should build like nature, with intelligence and a plan to create forms and structures that are lightweight, efficient, pleasurable, and inspiring. His perspective has been a great inspiration for the students’ work and an example of how we can embrace a value-based practice, where futuristic and visionary doesn’t alienate the contemporary but instead, by been made outside of the stream of technological hype with commercial interest, it can grow organically and help familiarize new ways to look at design
- Dylan Scott Goldfine-Middleton, Stanford, University of California, Berkeley
Eugene’s talk related the designs for this unprecedented construction in our little town, a greater part still drew from his well of unique life experience, calling for each of us to strive for excellence, tolerance, and compassion, and perhaps most importantly, to never give up. Even as the challenges of the present seem to grow more complex and insurmountable with each passing day, Eugene’s example offers an uncommon antidote to apathy and despair, one that deserves consideration regardless of preconceived notions about the nature of what is possible. The work toward a more conscious future must begin somewhere, Eugene is sure, and the sooner the better. If not here in Mount Shasta, then where?

From the moment I met Eugene, his uniqueness was evident. Despite being in his late 60s, his athleticism and vibrant energy are striking. He mentors others, champions environmentalism, and his architectural designs reflect his unconventional thinking. He encourages thinking outside the box, both metaphorically and literally, which is evident in his work that stands out among his peers. Eugene has been instrumental in my growth, guiding me from intern to collaborator, pushing me to surpass limits, and broadening my perspective. His influence has shaped my ability to see the world through diverse lenses. Conversing with Eugene, even just once, offers a glimpse into his extraordinary perspective and uplifting aura.
